Ever since I made the switch from pressing plastic buttons to tapping on glass, I had been wishing for a T9 Gboard mode. A developer named Karaivanov was tired of waiting as well I imagine, so they built their own. It's called "Traditional T9" and you can get it from F-Droid & the Play store.
